Andrew S K LAW
With 30+ years of post-qualified experience, Andrew Law is partner of “Robinsons, Lawyers” specializing the laws relating to IT, telecom and healthcare. He is based in Hong Kong, serving clients from China and the rest of Asia Pacific.
With a prize scholarship in 1979, he studied law in England and then Hong Kong. He is a solicitor qualified to practise in Hong Kong, Australia and England.
Prior to joining in-house legal service, he practised in law firms on commercial litigation for six years. He then moved to in-house service with Philips China/Hong Kong (1989-92), then with McDonald's China (1993-96), and later as International Attorney (Asia Pacific) of Inter-Continental Hotels Corporation (1996-98).
In addition to the above-mentioned basic legal qualifications, Mr Law obtained the following postgraduate awards: MBA, Master of Arts (Computer Information Systems) and LLM (Chinese & Comparative Laws).
Mr Law has devoted extensive efforts on both the business and law relating to the Information Technology industry. He is currently (2019) a member of the Law Reform Commission on the subject of Cyber Crime, as well as Honorary Legal Adviser to The Hong Kong Computer Society (for 25+ years). He was Chairman of the Technology Committee of The Hong Kong Law Society (1995- 2014).
Mr Law was Adviser (Internet & Information Security) to the IT Functional Constituency Legislative Council Member (2008-2012); Assessor of The Medical Council of Hong Kong (2001-2008); Director of the Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Ltd (2003 – 2009).
Andrew Law served in The Royal Hong Kong Regiment (The Volunteers) and is a Queen‘s Commissioned Territorial Army Officer, graduate of The Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, England.
